BBC coverage

October 16, 2010 by trialbyjeory

Just a brief note….I understand that The Politics Show on BBC 1 at noon tomorrow will feature the Tower Hamlets election, quite possibly with a discussion about postal voting fraud.

The Sunday Telegraph could also be covering the goings-on.

Any more coverage, do let me know.

Hopefully they’ve been inspired to do a bit more research than a phone call to Trial by Jeory and Dave Hill.

Why the Labour council never reforms postal voting is a good question. Could it be that it would be fairer and they might lose out?

How dare you lump Dave Hill in the same category as Jeory? Dave Hill doesn’t write reactionary crap, on a par with the gutter press.

Postal voting reform is well overdue. However, it’s not in local authority control. It’ll be up to central Government. Let’s see what changes come about from Downing Street.

It’s nothing to do with the council. It’s determined by legislation.

No, the council executive should make sure all postal voters are genuine, it’s nothing to do with legislation, and it should have done this in May. [CONTENT REMOVED FOR LEGAL REASONS: IF COMMENTER WISHES TO UNDERSTAND THE REASON WHY, PLEASE CONTACT ME].

I presume the BBC are following the usual practice of putting the same content (package) on the website as they use for the show, but I may be wrong.

Difficult to predict anything in Tower Hamlets, but my judgement is that the news item on today’s BBC News about Ken’s open criticism of the NEC and full support for Lutfur Rahman marks an historic turning point in what is turning out to be an epic battle…

It’s entirely legal but Emdad Rahman and Liam McQuade (Macuaid when blogging) both work for Tower Hamlets council and run blogs. There is a point on the political spectrum where the islamist fundamentalists connect up with the rump of the internationalist far left. It’s just here –

    http://liammacuaid.wordpress.com/2010/06/18/sowing-the-seeds-of-division-statement-by-islamic-forum-of-europe/

Liam has gone very quiet about his organisation’s support and admiration for the IFE since it has become clearer and clearer that they are just another bunch of entryists. Liam is the Tower Hamlets anti-bullying officer and Emdad works for the Attendance and Welfare Advisory Service. Is the Borough full of such characters? How much of the working day do they spend keeping their trophy blogspots up-to-date when they should be working?

Was anybody suprised to read the turgid prose that simply says that the ‘Unity Platform Against Racism and Fascism’ and the ‘United East End’ hated each others guts. You can’t embrace ‘unity’ as fervently as these people do without completely throttling the very idea.
