Thanks to ‘Working Mum’ for highlighting this video on the comments section of this blog yesterday. I think it’s worthy of its own post.
It’s a video of Rabina Khan’s campaign launch featuring among others Lindsey German, of the Stop the War Coalition and former member of the SWP’s ‘Central Committee’.
They all get very excited and praise Lutfur Rahman’s “integrity” before the Great Man himself makes the late entrance of a Grand Dame from stage right to express righteous indignation at the consequences of the legal process: he singles out disqualified Alibor Choudhury, apparently standing at the back of the room, for a special shout-out.
The audience are all very excited by this stage but when it comes to Rabina’s speech, they look a bit bored: Lindsey German can be seen picking imaginary fluff from her jumper in the way people do when they’re irritated and distracted.
Meanwhile, you can also see Oli Rahman and Shahed Ali – the former speaks and the latter claps – and I wonder what those two now feel about having joined in the political charade.
At the time of the PwC report and as soon as the Election Court verdict came through they and one or two others had the chance to choose wisely and break away from the Tower Hamlets First Muppet Show.
Instead, they chose…..poorly.
Sorry, I could only stomach about 45% without either wanting to laugh maniacally or vomit violently.
Let’s hope that they all disappear under the rocks that they came from. No doubt they’ll be spouting their rotten brand of politics somewhere else as I type. This kind always do…more’s the pity!
I don’t know that there is a rock large enough for all the inflated egos and bruised senses of self-worth. I fear not even the Milliband Ed-Stone would be capacious enough for the job.
Tim.
P.S. What’s the collective noun for a group of ex-THF politicians? A ‘disgrace’? A ‘shame’? A ‘shambles’?
Cell?
Sounds more like a destination.
A jihad?
Exactly who are all those old white women so excited about their own community being systematically disenfranchised and marginalised?? They remind me slightly of a towns-womens’ guild’s production of MacBeth where the cast have all been bussed-in from a care-home for retired Cold War traitors…
Ghastly.
Proof, if needed that Rabina and co were playing to their core supporters, who are incapable of moving on. This is what cost Rabina the election, that and aligning herself with a corrupt lying ex-mayor and becoming a councillor by corrupt and illegal means.
‘Quislings’ is the word.
Not shitheads?
The woman on the far right end in the blue top is Lillian Collins, chair of the Poplar Baths Steering Group. She has been used, in every sense, at every available opportunity to support the now ex-mayor. She even appeared as a witness for the lying corrupt ex-mayor where she said she ‘chooses her friends wisely.’ She might want to re-think that remark.
The bit where Rahman urges the young man to come forward from the side of the room had me worried: For a moment I thought when he says the “the next generation,” it was going to be a “The Boys from Brazil” moment and I thought “oh shit they’ve cloned him”.
V funny
Given how the SWP were royally shafted in Respect, you might have thought some of its leaders could have developed critical faculties concerning Red-Green alliances.
Obviously not.
Dr Paul. The one thing the SWP cannot do is to examine what actually happened with the whole Respect fiasco, the broad far left generally won’t either. One side blames it all on SWP control freakery, the SWP on George Galloway’s move to the right.
It was of course simply that when the Bangladeshi power brokers no longer needed some form of white involved broad front for their own political ambitions they simply with drew. It’s as simple as that.
One of the things I notice when listening to speeches by certain individuals is the use (thoughtful OR habitual routine) of certain ‘stock phrases’.
Thing is they can come back to haunt you.
If you use a phrase such as “By the will of Allah” (as used by the ex Mayor) it’s only effective if the candidate wins.
Otherwise the use of such a phrase can only lead to the conclusion that
(1) it was NOT the will of Allah that the ex-Mayor should choose who should be the next candidates for vacant seats
AND/OR
(2) neither candidate measured up to what was required
In short “you can’t have your cake and eat it”
They are habitual and routine stock phrases because that’s the best they can do. They were all trotted out at the Waterlily in April where the irrelevant Linsey German used almost identical words.
My thoughts exactly. Even Allah doesn’t want these jokers in power. So much so, he allowed Lutfurs demise, and kept his puppet Khan at bay.
Of of those religious fanatics and those scared of the consequences of not supporting Lutfur on his cry said must be wondering what fate befalls them for going against the almighty.
Even Allah must be getting sick of them playing the religion card.
Maybe there is a god….
2/1 on that at least one THF councillor is accepted into the Labour Group before Christmas.
As there are no THF councillors I’ll happily take your bet.
Alright smart Alec… 2/1 that at least one FORMER THF councillor joins the Labour group…
IMHO they should all be shunned
What’s your basis for that proposition?
Not if I and the local Labour Party have any say in it and they they do is the day my catd gets shredded. As the saying goes fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shsme on me.
Excuse the typos
Post above should read. Not if I and the Local Labour Party have any say in the matter, and the day they do get allowed in is the day my membership card geys shredded. As the saying goes fool me once shame on you,, fool me twice shame on me.
Some might helpfully add
Certainly shameful behaviour for the party which now falsely claims to support the poor, the needy, tenants being ripped-off by excessively high exploitative rents, council tax etc. etc. etc. No wonder the SNP obliterated Labour.

The culprits, signing on behalf of the English Queen, were George Brown and David Milliband.
Oh, don’t tell me you never knew what your chosen political party did 😉
Curious Cat
“Our very own Martin Luther King”? Dear God
That collection of bones at the end of the row is Lillian Collins, the organisation she ‘runs’ was paid a small fortune from the council when Lutfur was Mayor
As was ‘Channel S’.
An important part of Tower Hamlets history.
Can Rabina, or anyone else, remove this excellent video from YouTube ? If so, how can this wonderful ‘work of art’ be preserved indefinitely for the benefit of the nation ?

Ted Jeory, these were not the only clowns desperate to join the ex-THF troupe. Senior student politicians claimed on Friday that John Bigg’s campaign was “incredibly racist and sexist” (although the court had already condemned this smear). Worth picking up https://twitter.com/zaradicalised/status/609305112490680320 And that someone who is part of the team running the national union of students, creating future leaders. Makes you shudder.
Another little video starring an assortment of looney mad trots and other freaks
Most of the residents in this video come from one particular area in Tower Hamlets. Poor deluded souls.

Slightly off topic but in the four scrutiny committees that some suggested could exist, do the chairs or whatever have to be councillors?
=> Dave Roberts
Yes the chairmen should be councillors, so too those that can vote.
The full-powers 4 scrutiny committees can co-opt whom they wish and they chose their own workload/investigations. Naturally there is ample scope at Tower Hamlets for some truly interesting discoveries.
Having 4 scrutiny committees, not sub-committees and not panels, means it will be difficult to prevent illuminating investigations occurring – the sort of gagging they often occurs in the disguise of “democracy” – also known as concealment of misconduct and criminal activity.
🙂 🙂 😉
Let’s see if Biggs actually does anything. He’s not a real disturber of status quos.
Have a good laugh about this. http://www.counterfire.org/articles/opinion/17854/the-smear-campaign-against-rabina-khan
It’s always smears while they totally ignore the facts. Must be Trots. What do people think?
That link is incorrect, try http://www.counterfire.org/articles/opinion/17854-the-smear-campaign-against-rabina-khan
What a load of nonsense. Badly written nonsense at that. Clearly the author never read the judgement of Rahman.
Thanks Alun.
The writer, Charlotte Gerada, is one of the four people who signed the ” alternative ” petition which you can see on the ridiculous site http://www.towerhamletsontrial.wordpress.com It seems to be the brainchild of http://www.counterfire.org which is some of the people expelled from or resigned from the Socialist Rapists Party after the collapse of Respect when the Central Committee of the SRP imploded over the apportioning of blame.
Charlotte Gerada, Gary Reddin, Jusna Begum and Sean Rillo Raczka are all purported to be Tower Hamlets residents and “activists”. The latter word usually means a total wanker with a third class degree in something like meeja studies from former polytechnic posing as a “Uni”. I have never heard of any of them, has anyone else?
I wouldn’t bother making enquiries of Counterfire, being the good Trots they are they ban people who ask awkward questions, that’s what happened to me.
I know I have mentioned this before but what we are seeing here is the state of the far left in Britain. While similar movements are either in government or on the verge of in several European countries this is the state of Marxism here. Actually I’m OK with that, I wouldn’t want this lot in charge of anything! Would you?
I thinks its time for Labour to consider taking back a few members of the dismantled Tower Hamlets first such as :
1. Ohid Ahmed (Was kicked out for supporting injustice against Lutfur back in 2010, he is a well experienced politician who had a 15 year track record with the Labour Party. The long suffering genuine deputy mayor to Lutfur he was also founder and chair of Labour Friends of Bangladesh) A person I strongly believe should of stood for Mayor.
2. Rabina Khan (She also was thrown out by the party just months after becoming a first time elected councillour she may not have as much political experience but she is a influncial woman and deserves to be rewarded for her courage and efforts and I hope she sees past Lutfurs devious methods to keep hold of power and realizes she was used by him.
Others who were previously Respect or stood under THF as a 1st time councillor should also consider getting Labour party membership.
Members of THF I think don’t deserve to be taken back are:
1. Oliur Rahman (A failure as a Deputy Mayor and as a councillor. Now believes he can somehow become a GLA member with George Galloway’s support)
2. Shahed Ali (Corrupt councillor, prize postal vote fruadster and also he has so far been a member of Respect, Labour, THF and now Independent. Oppurtunitist as he openely supported Abbas in 2010 and represented him on live TV and joined Lutfurs army soon after Lutfur was elected.
Same goes for Abdul Asad and Aminur Khan
Your taking the piss mate. The people you name are all corrupt scum as you probably are as well.
There is an old saying
1. Ohid Ahmed – THF councillor 2014; deputy mayor 2010-2014. Worked closely with Rahman
2. Rabina Khan – THF councillor 2014; THF/Independent mayoral candidate 2015. Works closely with Rahman.
What genuinely good things have either done for the whole population of Tower Hamlets ?
If Labour wants Bangladeshies then why doesn’t Labour canvas for moderate Bangladeshies – those with ‘clean slates’ ? Damaged goods often conceal risks.
Curious Cat.
I’d say this lot would be better being interrogated for crimes against democracy, fraud ant grant allocations, tower hamlets, and creating decisive and racist politics.
Labour are many things, but I doubt they are foolish enough to let these crooks back. Let’s face it, with their track record, these THF scum will be applying to another political party at the drop of a hat any day now.
Or creating their own. Ideally in Syria, or somewhere else far away from here….,
It’s not going to happen.
None of them should be allowed back into Labour. They are all toxic, each and everyone of them.
Let them become history. All corruptly elected. Some mad, some very very sinister people indeed
Although still quite young, it will be found that many of those mentioned as possible returnees to Labour will simply fade away as they simply have no organisational ability, drive or indeed anything else to contribute to the party either locally or nationally.
It should also be noted that throughout the Respect/Rahman years, for that is essentially what they were, a high proportion of Labour councillors and members were Bangladeshi as was their vote. It is incorrect to see the whole thing as the Bangladeshis versus everyone else.
There is simply too much animosity on both sides for any of the above mentioned to be even considered for re-admittance and most of that hostility would come from Labour Bangladeshi members and councillors who stood fast throughout the period in question.
Tower Hamlets and Bradford have shown that the kind of religious/communalist local politics promoted by Syhleti and Kashmiri power brokers have had their day although the influences of both will linger for a while, there are very few clean breaks in politics. We will see the influence of graam and biridari remaining but becoming as important politically as the allegiance of the fifth generation Irish in America or Britain to their county of origin and its Gaelic football or Hurling team. I hope so.
A younger Bangladeshi considering an entry into local or national politics in the UK will look at the inner cities, particularly London, and see that they are Labour. Any kind of political career will have to be within that party so we will return to or have a prolongation of the system that existed in Tower Hamlets for a half a century with the Jews and the Irish referred to as The Kosher Nostra and The Murphia!
the system that existed in Tower Hamlets for a half a century with the Jews and the Irish referred to as The Kosher Nostra and The Murphia!
Surely confirmation of the failure of the immigrant group to comprehensively integrate into the host community – these days a task made more difficult by satellite television, in a language alien to the majority of the host country’s community, effectively slowing or even preventing proper integration.
When I went to school we have no jews just Paddies, Jocks, Aussies, Cypriots, Italians, Poles, Taffies …. and we all existed happily. No one noticed any racial or colour differences. Everyone was judged on what they were like as a person.
Amazing that children can achieve what adults can’t.
Then along came the money-making Race, Colour, separate societies agenda – sponsored and encouraged by Labour – which was never about equality and integration but about division for Labour’s political benefit.
Curious Cat
Yeah, basically. For those of you who missed it http://www.bbc/programmes/b01kvkw6 enjoy.
Should have been http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01kvkw6 try that.
This second URL works 🙂
The SWP are unbelievable. High on the power of speaking on anti war podiums Lyndsey Germain and her partner John Ress smashed up the Socialist Alliance and founded RESPECT.
They had hoped that key Muslim areas would catapult them into elected office (and the wealth and prestige it would bestow).
All that happened was George Galloway was foisted upon the country via this Tower Hamlets powerbase, dozens of shady Muslim businessmen and communalists (as SWP stalwart John Molyneux described Salma Yaqoob) got political power – but none of the Trots achieved anything or came close to power (unless you count carrying Galloway’s bag as Rob Hoveman and ex Socialist Worker journalist Kevin Ovendon betrayed their brethren to do).
After disastrously leading RESPECT and ego clashing with the indefatigable Galloway, John Rees was sacked by the SWP members.
This was a rare spasm of courage for a supine group, though led behind the scenes by one Martin Smith, his eyes on the prize of national head.
Sadly the Trottets didn’t continue their courage to even comment, in the majority, during a later internal crisis caused by a rape scandal – when a certain 47 year old national head of office admitting having sex with a 17 year old child recruit (but denied her claim of rape).
So after Rees’s public dressing down said Lyndsey Germain flounced off with him to found another splinter cell (though always managed to make sure they were paid hard cash).
Whatever the logo of a new ‘front’ appears do does the magic the cheque book – miraculously whenever John Rees is in the room.
Now she’s back stirring up more religious tensions.
Disgusting.
Perhaps it’s not as low as Rees organising the press conference where ‘Jihadi John’s’ PR Office Cage spread their lies about him being a nice chap, radicalised by a rude passport official in Kenya and by the knowledge MI6 was keeping a (blurry) eye on him.
So there you have her contribution to Britain: RESPECT pander to religious division and enter an alliance with dubious right wing characters to form RESPECT. They fail miserably after falling out with Galloway & leave Tower Hamlets with a corrupt, religious rump supported by foul Pakistani/Bangladeshi reactionaries (IFE).
They stir up communal sectarianism, create a culture of fear and slander, and then come back and try and do it all again!
Beneath contempt doesn’t come close for these foul creatures. They could curdle the milk of the whole of Jersey, flying over head on Easy Jet.
Written by a true journalist.
Jersey has a lot higher standards and would use whatever laws they possess to kick them out before they got anywhere near to the cows and milk 🙂
