« Betrayal and Panorama: Student Bengali ‘journalist’ reveals BBC’s confidential sources to Lutfur Rahman
Tower Hamlets’ and Lambeth’s top lawyers take to Facebook to discuss Panorama… »

Lutfur Rahman, Tower Hamlets and Securalism.

This is a reblog of a piece on Tendence Coatsey

Directly Funds Religious Groups.

This is not the place to discuss the full picture  of the Panorama report into Tower Hamlets Council and Lufter Rahman.

Eric Pickles, the Secretary of State for local government, is not the best person to criticise anybody, even the person who ties his shoelaces.

Counterfirehas however  muddied the waters by repeating Rahman’s charges that the programme is ‘racist’ and ‘Islamophobic’.

Since they claim to speak for the left, they need a reply.

They claim,

Take away the constant reminders that Lutfur and many of supporters are Bengali(!!), and what were we left with? Firstly, the fact that he didn’t follow the advice of council bureaucrats as to who should get funding, and secondly that he didn’t submit himself to sufficient questioning by Tower Hamlets’ Labour-dominated council. As for the former, it is a hardly a political scandal that funding decisions should, ultimately, be taken by…

Ted, Andrew Giilgan’s blog on the Daily Telegraph last 20 comments before Team Luftur got it shut down. Keep up the good work exposing the racist actions of Lauftur Rahman and how he spends our taxes on his vote base.

Saw the splendid Panorama programme this morning on Freeview. 🙂

Cat, what did you make of the Panorama programme?

      • on April 3, 2014 at 6:05 pm Curious Cat

Mr Pickles, I was frankly staggered. I am going to watch it again. Then I’ll give my honest and unbiased option.

        The mayor and Our Money

Having re-watched, paused and listened again, here are my comments

••••••• LBTH = 33% Bangladeshi, 13% of the eligible residents (8% who were Bangladeshis) voted for the Son of Labour.•••••••

Broken the Law in my honest, sincerely non-lawyer’s opinion by self-promotion of his mug shot, “signature”, name and the physical SIZE of the de facto advertisements. Note there is no email address or contact telephone number next to, or in, Son of Labour’s blatant self-promotional advertisement appearing everywhere.

The Law said the resources of the local authority can be used only for the exercise of the local authority’s functioning. Promoting Son of Labour is not a lawful council activity.

The weekly East End Life will have to change to comply with a new legal requirement effective 1 April 2014.

Absolutely no need for a weekly version.

Absolutely no need for it to contain large dominating pictures of Son of Labour. I’m biased – I would prefer an attractive female instead 🙂

29 times more coverage to the Son of Labour and his political party/group compared to the vast majority of all other councillors.

97.3% of quotes compared to non-Son of Labour political people.

        Channel S

£17,000 sponsorship to the TV station

Channel S programme : making deliberately false promises to the Bangladeshies, and not to any other group of residents, of “large houses” if they re-elect Son of Labour

Criticised by OFCOM 3 times for blatant political bias favouring Son of Labour

Paying £50,000 to working Channel S reporter to be his media adviser – LBTH’s Media Advisor – then falsely claiming he can control what work the reporter does at Channel S and falsely claiming the same reporter never covers council or other matters involving him, the Son of Labour.

Paying £5,000 to sponsor a “community” event which was filmed exclusively by Channel S and at which Son of Labour made political statements.

Grants Come and get your religious grants – bollocks to all the non-believers and non-practising residents. Conspicuous Muslim biased and no requirement to benefit the community at large (= the general community) and by the way “No strings attached”.

If you have any evidence that someone in my community has broken the law … Which community is that ? The Bangladeshi community, the white community, the entire Tower Hamlets community ? Suspect “my” means Bangladeshi.

Grants again Deliberately contravened council officials recommendations in favour of Bangladeshies to the sum of £6 million. No audit trial, no detailed written reasons – decision solely based on something called Local Knowledge possessed exclusively by Son of Labour and, seemingly, no one else.

Who the hell is Mr West ? Several times I thought I distinctly heard Son of Labour calling the interviewer Mr West. Eventually the sound must have improved or someone discreetly told him the interviewer was actually called Mr Wade.

Back to Grants Council grants are always distributed by council officials as part of their normal work. Not at Tower Hamlets it seems. Son of Labour said

My people ……. we will distribute the money to as many organisations as possible ….

It gave the impression that if the money went to Bangladeshi organisations they would then re-distribute the council’s (actually the tax payers) cash.

I have all the Council of Europe’s Human Rights articles, from the post-war treaty and many protocols, on a web site. Still can not find the bit that says public accountability means the bloke in charge should not be compelled to account for his public actions made on behalf of the public especially when public funds are involved. Please will some kind person point me to the relevant text or case law ?

To Ted Please ask the TV company to issue a DVD with all the missing bits and sell it to the public for £5 including postage. It will be a Tower Hamlets best seller. Extremely useful for all those who missed the broadcast.

Pickles really needs to go on a diet, eat sensibly, exercise and then tackle out-of-control English local government.

There was a lot missing from the broadcasted programme. Some really juicy bits I understand.

I would welcome a police and a central government enquiry.

Serving the public or serving one’s own pockets and/or ego ? that is the question that needs a concise and definitive answer. How long must everyone wait ?

        Curious Cat.

P.S. I welcome the Mayor’s version of the Panorama programme. If his Worship would kindly consent, I too would like to record a Interview – got all the necessary stuff.

I love the idea about the DVD. After Lutfur’s been jailed it will become a collectors item!
